Newton Defends Light Heavyweight Title at Bellator 130

MULVANE, Kan. – Emanuel Newton puts his Bellator Light Heavyweight Title on the line against Linton Vassell at Bellator 130 on Friday night in Mulvane, Kansas. The title fight is the main event on a four-fight card that includes heavyweight and lightweight bouts as well as a pair of women making their debut fights.
“The Hardcore Kid” has won six straight fights, two by what has become his trademark move the spinning backfist, including his last title defense win in the third round over Joey Beltran at Bellator 124. Newton is 24-7 and matches up against 14-3 Vassell who has won nine consecutive fights. “The Swarm” is unbeaten in three Bellator matchups winning each of his last two by rear-naked choke with his last win being a first round win over Virgil Zwicker at Bellator 122.
Karl “The Wrecking Machine” Etherington (9-0) faces Bobby “The Dominator” Lashley (11-2) in the night’s heavyweight bout. “The Wrecking Machine is unbeaten and coming off a win by submission with strikes in the first round at Bellator 87 over Jason Fish. Etherington looks to end “The Dominator’s” four fight winning streak. Lashley submitted Josh Burns in the second round at Bellator 123 in his last fight.
Lightweights collide as Dave Jansen fights Rick Hawn looking to continue his six fight winning streak while Hawn looks to rebound from a loss in his last fight. “The Fugitive” improved to 19-2 taking his sixth straight win with a unanimous decision victory over Marcin Held at Bellator 93. “Genghis” Hawn was stopped in the second round by Douglas Lima at Bellator 117.
The Women’s Featherweight fight of the night pits Annalisa Bucci (7-3) against Marloes Coenen (21-6) as both women make their Bellator debuts. “No Fear” earned a win by unanimous decision over Maria Hougaard in her last fight and would like to extend her streak with her first Bellator win. “Rumina” looks to bounce back from a loss by stoppage to Christiane Justino in her debut.
